
Biography
Best known for the “interplanetary imagination and ambition” of his underground science fiction shorts, Matthew Gordon Long began writing and directing his prolific body of independent film work at age sixteen.
In 2007 his “Rocky Horror opium dream” Trans-Neptune premiered at the Cannes Short Film Corner and earned best short at the Vancouver Queer Film Festival. The film received its US broadcast premiere on Logo in 2008 and was released on DVD by Frameline Distribution in 2010.
His first online release, The Anachronism, won six Leo Awards including best short film in 2009 and went viral in 2010, reaching enthusiastic audiences in 100 countries around the globe. He lives in Vancouver, Canada, where he is currently writing his first feature film.
His films have been compared favourably to the works of Hayao Miyazaki, Guy Maddin, Peter Weir, and Emily Carr.
